@Former-Member i feel like i need to find something for me too, i just find it hard to find the time and mental energy to do anything meaningful for myself... but life is like that i suppose.

I’m a bit the same @Former-Member, @Former-Member @Appleblossom,
In the last couple of years I have joined a knitting group, helped disabled to craft, volunteered, singing group, book group ... but I never feel comfortable and stop attending.
Exhaustion is partly to blame but also just not feeling like I can do the group thing....
I even struggled to attend DBT in a group :face_with_rolling_eyes:

My son returned from a trip to Japan and I caught up with him today. His stories made me feel like heading away.

I find your comments about music fascinating.
Music, specifically making music provides me wirh total fulfillment. It is the very essence of my being.

In the last few days I have decided to retire. This was something that previously filled me with absolute horror but now I welcome the thought of having time for me, time to read, to sew, to knit, to linger over a cuppa alone or in company, time to ....... time for me.

Is it little wonder I feel like this having spent 51 years in full time employment?

Well @Faith-and-Hope, yes and no. It's all very much still in the lap of the gods but looking much more hopeful. So much so that I told my kids about selling here and moving back to a rural community. It will be such a relief to get back to the country.

They say you can take the gal out of the country but you can't take the country out of the gal ....

It's so strange in a way @Faith-and-Hope. Small rural towns , >1500 ensure that everyone knows everyone's business. Veritable hot beds of gossip. What is frequently construed as a massive negative by many people is the very thing that pulls the community together in an amazingly forceful way.

The gossip phase can become a dog eats dog scenario but if anyone is in trouble the community falls over backwards to help in every possible way.

YES! I'll be someone again. Where I work geographically it's very much a me me me society. Why on earth would anyone bother to give someone else a helping hand?
